Ethan 2, Allison 0...

That's right, Ethan is popping his second tooth as we speak. Allison has some catching up to do! And I know, after having just typed that, I'll come home tonight and find that Ali has three teeth, it happens that quick.

Allison, on the other hand, is crawling really well and is pulling herself up and standing with the help of anything she can get a hold of. She's even able to take some tentative, Frankenstein-like steps forward if you hold her hands.

Ethan continues to work on rolling over. Like Allison, he's trying to figure out how to get his arm out of the way to make a complete rotation.

Both are talking up a babble-storm. (I know there's a Babel/Babble connection somewhere!) Nevertheless, Allison has hit a linguistic stage where we think she's saying a word, but then we learn that it's a false alarm. Her first "word" was 'up'. She would say it constantly, but never in a way that told us she knew what it meant.

Her second word has been "mamama". This obviously got Lisa excited because Ali said it to her, but sorry honey, Ali has since called me "mama" too. Doesn't count.

Now Ethan one time said "da" and I was within earshot, so I think we can safely say he was referring to me...

  1. Anne said "dada" very clearly to Gerhardt one morning and we thought that was the first word until I walked in and she said, "dadablahmablabla". Then I said "you lose Gerhardt". It turns out we both lost. Her first word was "meow". Ludwig wins!
