10 years ago today, Lisa and I were married. We ended up spending our first anniversary having dinner at a restaurant on the shores of Lake Tahoe, and we're spending our 10th at St. Luke's NICU helping our daughter learn to breastfeed and our son to rest after his surgery. I consider the 10th anniversary the winner by far.
Allison continued to have another strong day of breastfeeding and being an absolute delight to Grandma and Grandpa Klostermann. In solidarity with her brother, she pulled out her NG tube from her nose last night, so it was moved to the other nostril. We continue to really enjoy all of her coos and squeals.
Ethan, we're learning, has just about had it with all of the tubes and wires. He began to develop a tolerance for his pain medication through the night, so they safely increased his dose in the morning. Very thankfully they were able to remove his chest tube this afternoon. The tube had been there to release any extra air buildup around the lung post surgery, but Ethan definitely was not a fan. He's resting a bit more comfortably tonight. The doctors and nurses will continue the balancing act of keeping him comfortable while not giving him too much medication. Hopefully we will also begin to wean him back off of the ventilator soon.
Happy Anniversary! Wow - ten years! Congrats!!! Definitely one to remember... It is wonderful to read the updates and see how your children are doing. With all you are dealing with, finding time to keep us all updated is a pretty neat thing. I will continue to send positive vibes your way. Give them little kisses for me...I hope to meet them someday!
