Steroids

Ethan started a second course of steroids on Thursday. He is responding quite well to the combination of steroids, CPT (tapping on his chest), and the albuterol. His settings are down and they switched him to the conventional mode of ventilation so they can wean him off of the vent. His PIP (pressure of the breaths) is around 24, which is low. PEEP/CPAP is 4 (which is super low!). They're working on reducing the number of breaths that the ventilator gives him, therefore making him work on his own to take the breaths.

Did I mention that Ethan was 8 pounds yesterday??? He's down to 7 lb 11.5 oz today. (Probably one person weighed the vent tubing and the other did not?) Alli was 12 lb 3 oz (with a big cloth diaper).

Speaking of cloth diapers, our new bum Genius diapers will arrive on Monday. Alli is just about out of the small Kissaluvs! She has a chunky little butt and legs. :)

Allison's big news is that she officially slept 'through the night' last night. Although I can't say that 5 hours really counts as 'through the night' to me, but it's way better than the 2 we were getting! Chris and I finally stood in her room and watched her fuss in the earlier evening. She fusses, cries (real, loud cries) with her eyes closed. After 1-2 min she goes back to sleep like nothing happened. So, we just let her sleep. Apparently I've been waking her up... This mommy thing really should come with an instruction manual. :)
