Get ready for the roller coaster. On Monday Ethan came off of the ventilator. Things looked pretty good. Tuesday he was working a little harder. I had a bad feeling... Wednesday at 6:50 am the phone rang. That's never a good sign... Dr. Nordine told us Ethan had been re-intubated. (bad co2, bad ph). Dr. Rosenblum spent the afternoon researching & decided that he needs a bronchoscope & will need a neonatal pulmonoligist pretty much no matter what. It is very likely that he will transfer to the University of Iowa on Monday. I can't even believe it.
I'll be back with more later. I'm trying to stay positive that this might be the answer to getting Ethan healthy and home.
