Everything is holding steady today; Ethan is continuing to grow stronger and is CPAP is definitely helping. He was changed to a smaller mask which should make it more comfortable for him. He's up to full feedings, which is excellent, and Lisa and I were able to hold him more easily today during those feedings because of his new crib.
Allison had her eye appointment today, which is S.O.P for R.O.P. (Sorry, I had to type that). What I mean is, its standard practice to have all preemies checked for "Retinaopathy of Prematurity". Dr. Smith checked Allison's eyes to make sure that her retinas are developing normally.
Thankfully they are, but if something was amiss, we would be able to do something about it now rather than get caught off-guard later. These appointments will continue for both Ethan and Allison until they reach the 40-week mark (August 31st). Ethan's appointment will be tomorrow.
Lisa and I were talking a few days ago about what color the twins' eyes will be. Right now, both Ethan and Allison's eyes are what I call "infant blue", this deep navy blue which will slowly change into what their color(s) will be...who knows?
