No more "musical vents" for the past couple of days, as Ethan is still on the conventional one. We changed modes to more of a manual one, where Ethan breathes on his own and the machine supports each breath.
It's much quieter and as Lisa said on Sunday, we can hold him without a tactical spreadsheet and steady nerves! He's awake more now, and his eyes are very expressive. This stands to reason, since he can't really communicate to us with his hands or voice. It's tremendous to be able to hold him and look at him and talk to him about the world such as why cell phones have to have so many volume settings; I mean really, do I need a "Volume 6"? Shouldn't we just have Silent, Vibrate, and Movie Disruptor? Why do I have to judge the future ambient noise I'm going to soon experience and choose between 4 and 5?
Anyways, that's what Ethan has to listen to, poor kid.
