It's so hard to tell sometimes if Ethan is getting better, especially when he's been on different machines. Chris and I realized yesterday that we were paying less attention to the PIP & PEEP numbers, in no small part due to the fact that the numbers on the conventional 'VIP bird' vent are tiny. (The jet had big red numbers continually staring right at us.) I think we are the better for it. I felt quite uninformed when I realized I had no idea what his settings were, but also I wasn't stressing about them either. So, it was nice to hear from Dr. Nordine at family rounds that Ethan's settings are down from last week. How exciting! 'Reduce vent settings' has been his un-met goal for what seems like forever.

The bad thing is that Ethan has been throwing up & he has diarrhea. The only test that shows anything so far shows something about him not absorbing sugar well. Probably caused by a run of the mill virus that will just run its course. Poor little boy. He doesn't need a bug on top of all of this. :(

Allison is going through a growth spurt. She wants to eat every hour or so again...and she is a bit of a crab. Mostly she seems over-tired a lot. Plus I think she grew overnight! All of the sudden her feet fall off the end of the boppy.
